Message from Supporters of No 10 District from 2010

Dear Gary,

Two special dates in my diary this year were the 7th and 12th July and Ballynafeigh certainly excelled my expectations on your mini 12th and main 12th parades.  It is such a privilege and honour to lead the Belfast Parade and I was pleased to see the excellent turn out of Orangemen and bands.  I am so glad that the weather forecast was wrong!  No rain all day!

I just wish for Ballynafeigh to return to your rightful route again.  I heard on the news that there was trouble on the Ormeau Road this evening, and I hope that the District returned to the hall safely.

I must say that the Ballynafeigh Apprentice Boys Flute band is a credit to your District.  The flutes are very melodic, and the band were playing going past our family on both the outward and homeward parades, not like the Shankill and East Belfast Protestant boys who were beating time going past us on both occasions!

Please pass my best regards to the Orangemen from Ballynafeigh.  Looking forward to 2019 God willing to see Ballynafeigh leading the way again and returning to your rightful route straight down the Ormeau Road.

Dear Mr Liggett and Number 10,

Congratulations and well done to Ballynafeigh leading the way on our Glorious Twelfth. I thought the children dressed as William and Mary was a lovely tribute and really set the tone for the rest of the parade. We see a lot of that in the Country parades, but not so much in Belfast.

Usually number 10 seems to pass so quickly but we were all pleased to see more lodges and more Ballynafeigh orangemen, and a good number of youth in Ballynafeigh, which is always good to see. Stranmillis Temperance appeared to be the biggest lodge not only in number 10, but throughtout the whole 9 districts.

I personally didn't recognise number 10 leading at first, as I always look out for the number 10 bannerette. Who is the man on the front of the bannerette?

Also good to see Number 10 being portrayed in a more positive light by the media on the Politics show yesterday. I thought that you spoke very well, and hopefully have sent a strong message to the Grand Lodge! Although Maskey may think that the orangemen have re-routed, I hope and pray that the orangemen's feet will again march on the lower end of the

Ormeau Road.

I will be passing my comments onto the Belfast Country Grand Lodge as well, as I feel that they haven't stood behind Ballynafiegh and Ardoyne as steadfast as they should. A few more years of the 12th at the Ormeau Park and it might have been a different story today. Glad to see that Ballynafeigh despite the decisions opposed upon you are still growing strong. I hope to see a few trophies coming back with Ballynafeigh this evening.

Keep the faith for God and Ulster.

Keep up the good work and keep recruiting, any may Ballynafeigh return to the good old days.

I was looking the number for the Ballynafeigh Community Association and found your website.Read the history and found it very interesting. Was suprised to see there has been Orangemen in this area for 124 years. Never had any sympathy for the Orangemen until the bomb was left at Artana Street last week and I was over an hour late collecting my wee girl from school. She was so distressed when I finally reached the school and I thought why should my child have to suffer from wasters who plant a bomb and dont care who gets hurt. I had to go through the town and out by Ravenhill Road to get to her school at Carryduff and we were more than an hour getting back home. Ended up just leaving the car and walking back home and I was walking past the faded mural and I thought why should one side tell another they cannot walk straight into town. I did not like being rerouted from my usual route of 10 minutes to get my child and thought about your rights as well for the first time. Please add my e-mail of support for Ballynafeigh to your website. There was a rumour last year that the parade was going down at 7am but was going back through the holylands at night and you know what everyone was happy at that. Good luck to you all. Shauneen.
